DOBIYAN WOMEN AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE (DWYEI) is a non-governmental non-profit, non-political non-religious organization working for social development of vulnerable and less privileged people. It’s a human-centered NGO. Dobiyan implements various developmental projects with the financial and technical support of international and local donors.
Year of Establishment
Founded in 1998, but Registered with Corporate Affairs Commission in November, 2010 certificate number CAC/IT/NO 41841.

Broad Objectives
The following are broad objectives:
1. Assisting Women and Youth towards improving resilience and livelihood activities.
2. Promotion of Child Protection, Rights of Children & Youth Development and Address the Issues related to Abuse and marginalization of Children, Adolescents and Youth most especially orphans and vulnerable children in the society.
3. To promote and encourage girl child education and advocate for child right and sponsor girl child education with emphasis on orphans and school drop outs.
4. To facilitate ease in access healthcare services to women to curb maternal/infant mortality rates.
5. To promote effective conflict resolution mechanisms through sensitization activities to communities and workshop/training to stakeholders on conflict management.
6. To care for the sick and minimize discrimination and gender imbalance.
7. Encourage women participation in community development by being gainfully employed and forming co-operatives.
8. Educating women and youth on the need for productive living and positive contribution to their communities.
9. Training and advocating women to gainfully acquire skills for peaceful coexistence within the family and the community.
10. Provision of comprehensive Care and Support that will bring relief to the families and communities who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other related infectious diseases.

Focus Groups
Dobiyan Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative is focused on the socio-economically disadvantaged groups of women, youth and children, amongst these groups, we consider most vulnerable and marginalized ones. It also focuses on the inclusion of minorities and special groups such as widows and physically challenged persons and the elderly people.
Management
Dobiyan Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative is led by Board of Trustees and the Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization subject to the decision reach by the Board Members.
The Executive Director is supported by the Program Manager, Finance team, Monitoring and Evaluation Team, HR and team of supporting staff and volunteers.
Partners & Partnerships
Partnerships are the heart-line of the organization. Since establishment; Dobiyan has remained privileged in getting the opportunity to work with number of diverse partners who not only extended financial and technical support; but also adequately build staff capacity before during and after projects.
Dobiyan greatly values and acknowledges the support of its partners who provided support to Dobiyan for its previous, current and future projects. These include IRC, NERI, Creative International, TB NETWORK, Vitamin Angels, Health Alive Foundation, TB Care project, Ipas International, Plan International GiZ ACOMIN etc.
Our organization is open to work in any State of the North-East and in all the 21 LGAs of Adamawa State. Some LGAs that have witnessed our presence in project execution included Song, Girei, Demsa, Numan, Ganye, Jada, Lamurde, Guyuk, Shelleng Mubi-North, Mubi-South, Maiha, Madagali, Yola-North and Yola-South LGA’s.
EXPERIENCE PORTFOLIO…
Dobiyan have been actively engaged in community development projects and livelihood and empowerment projects:
– Grant of soft loans to rural women to establish micro-scaled business which began since 2000.
– Supply of relief materials to Dumne victims of Fulani clash in 2003
– Training of women and youth on peaceful co-existence so that they can freely carry out their day to day businesses
– Economic Empowerment of women and youth (with Plan International and GIZ)
– Adamawa State School – based Education System Strengthening (ASSESS) project funded by IRC
– Care and support for orphans and vulnerable children
– Conflict management among women and youth project (with Creative and NERI)
– Peaceful/positive participation in democracy by women and youth project among others.
– Provision of books and Education materials to primary schools
– Awareness Creation to parents of Out-of-school children
– Purchase of ambulance for Dumne Primary Healthcare.
– Supply of drugs to primary healthcare Centre Song
– Free screening HIV and Malaria testing as well as treatment for those found positive, in partnership with health concern foundation
– Voluntarily and confidential counseling and testing project
– Quality health care services for maternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) project HIV/AIDS prevention, malaria, tuberculosis and other related infectious diseases.
– HIV/AIDS prevention, education to out-of-school and in-school youths (with TB-Network)
– Community Sensitization on SRHR, GBV and Post Abortion Care and Referral services to victims of rape and GBV in 12 Communities in Yola-North and Yola-South Local Government Areas (with Ipas Nig.)
– Supply of vitamin A and Albendezole for children within 0-5 years in partnership with Vitamin Angel.
